Well i dont really like this because everyone is fine and we are love the forms we are in and my mates have said that they have so much fun in registration because they can all talk and get along !

so i think we shouldn`t acctually change the froms in registration we should just make a club at resistration time so the people that are having trouble with homework or deciding what they should take in year 9/10.

also this clud should be run by six formers so they can take about what it was like or what did they do (give advice)

Hi Charlie

As an example for next year, consider this.

One sixth form support is doing some paired reading with the Year 7's on one table in the room, the Year 8's are having a planner check with another sixth former and talking through their weeks progress, Year 10 are discussing option choices with the Year 9's with another sixth former chairing and the four Year 11 students are chatting to their tutor about their progress, options for Year 12, coursework etc - this is a level of support that could not be achieved in our current system.

In addition to this we have House competitions, increased student support, responisbilities for students (House captains etc), more activities and a fairer, more cohesive school.

Its natural to worry about change - thats why we are looking to take students to visit other schools and then to feedback to students here, for example, as you had the chance to hear from Matt Wilson Boddy in form time.

Dear mr.bodey

i understand about the compatitions and how fun it might be to play/compete against the other "houses"

but have u heard of any other complaints about this sir?

do u think a patition is acceptable to do if you strongly do not like this idea(no affence )

because 7PHK is a really good form and it has all of my best mates in it also they say all the time how fun it is and i think if you dont get along in lessons you can talk and have a nice time in registration,my whole form 7PA loves mr.Astbury as a form tutor and we all have fun with him at registration so i personally and some people in phk dont like this

Hi Charlie - good, fair contribution here.

Students have this forum to raise issues and be replied to and all form tutors are happy to discuss Vertical Tutoring with you. Some students who raised particular concerns have already been on school visits and others will also be going out throughout the remainder of the year to visit other schools - in fact a group of Year 10 students are going to Selby High School next week for an afternoon. The purpose of these visits is to reassure students - all other schools who have made this change have had an initially negative reaction from students that becomes very positive in a short space of time. Our experience from student visits, staff visits and the parents evenings we ran on Vertical Tutoring is that anyone who comes into contact with it immediately becomes very positive about the idea and its benefits. I will certainly look to include you in a future visit to Selby or Skipton.

We are past the time for petitions or similar - this is going ahead in September and will be the Fulford School system for the forseeable future. You need to be part of shaping this process not looking to block it as this will not happen and will stop you enjoying the full benefits of what we are doing.

I know Mr Astbury is a fantastic form tutor and he will be a fantastic form tutor next year too in the Vertical Tutoring set up. The friendships you have made in 7PA will still exist in lessons, breaks and lunchtimes and in tutor time/house activties you will get the chance to meet many new people from across the school and wil, I am sure, make further friends through this contact. Mr Astbury is also very in favour of Vertical Tutoring and would be happy to talk to you further about this, as would I if you want to come and see me.

Thanks for the good comments Charlotte. Mr Bodey is right that I think this is going to be a really good change for everybody. It's only natural that people will resist a large change like this, but the benefits it will bring for you, especially when you are much further up the school are enormous as I'm sure you will find out. Hopefully Mr. Bodey can arrange for you to go and have a look at another school where this is already in place so you can see how well it works.
